Retention and deletion
What happens to files when payment, capacity, or ownership changes.
| Time after payment failure | What happens |
|---|---|
| First 7 days | Normal access during the payment grace period |
| After day 7 | New uploads blocked, and existing files still served |
| After day 30 | Normal downloads suspended |
| Day 60 | Unpaid files purged after warning notices |
The paid subscription ends, or the lower plan begins, at the scheduled boundary. Files that don't fit get a 30-day window for authenticated export and cleanup before Uploadfile purges them. The window doesn't start a new paid subscription or ask for recurring consent.
Paying can resume a recoverable account once the server verifies the payment. It can't bring back files that Uploadfile already purged.
Permanent deletion has no grace period. Uploadfile aims to refuse new requests for the file within 60 seconds and to purge its owned copies within 24 hours. There is no trash and no undo.
Deletion jobs stay visible while pending and retry on failure. The purge includes recovery copies and old versions, so don't rely on recovery to restore a file you deleted on purpose.
